We often sing the words this land is your land, this land is our land but we sometimes forget that the Alabama land that we call home has been inhabited by self sufficient tribes of people long before Alabama became a state. The Forgotten Creeks are Poarch Creek Indians that never traveled the Trail of tears and instead remained in South Alabama.
Now that group is being honored by The Cotton Street Gallery in Andalusia who is hosting a special exposition to honor the Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ way of. life. Each area of the exposition highlights the work of an artist honoring traditional indigenous
