The garden party–themed fashion show took place at Andalusia’s L&N Depot on Saturday, April 5.
Andalusia, AL—AIR Artists Inc.’s second annual Runway Soirée, “A Garden Affair: An Evening of Floral Fashion Delight,” took place Saturday, April 5, at Andalusia’s historic L&N Depot. The event featured live and silent auctions, dinner, and a fashion show to raise funds for the nonprofit AIR Artists Inc.
“This was another spectacular fashion show,” said Sue Wiggins, AIR Artists Inc.’s founder and director. “It was very well attended, with people coming from New York, Panama City, Fairhope, North Alabama, Brewton, and beyond.”
The 13 models showcased 24 designer dresses and sported custom-made flower-themed fascinators to coordinate with their dresses.
“These were all truly one-of-a-kind creations,” Wiggins said. “Joree Jones led the charge and worked with women in the community to make them.”
Andalusia-based pageant coach Bill Alverson, who starred in TLC’s reality TV series “Coach Charming,” emceed the fashion show, Jean McClellan catered the seated dinner, and Wayne “Pez” Marrier, of ShoFar Stage Productions, produced the sound and lighting.
“The real star of the show may be the venue,” said Wiggins. “When the train station was lit up, it was just exquisite.”
The Runway Soirée, held on the first Saturday in April, is a creation of Cotton Street Gallery, which celebrates Southern textile art and artists and offers textile-related classes and demonstrations for adults and children throughout the year, as well as special cultural exhibits. The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the Runway Soirée benefit AIR Artists, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization.
